Multiverso: A Verdade Sobre Suas “Versões”
1What is the Multiverse? The Multiverse is like an infinite forest of trees-of-life, and you, wise owl, are in one of them. But what if I told you that for every choice you make, a new branch sprouts, creating a whole new tree? Imagine that each tree is a universe. In one, you decided to hunt the mouse on the left. In another, the one on the right. In a third, you simply yawned and went back to sleep on your branch. Each choice creates a new “version” of you, a new owl living in a slightly different forest. Important to know: it’s not magic, it’s not fiction. It’s an idea from physics, a theory. Owls together, thinking! Let’s understand how this forest of universes works: First, the owl lives its life. Let’s say today it can choose between singing to the moon or remaining silent. At the moment of choice, the universe splits. Poof! Now there are two universes. In one, the owl sings and perhaps attracts a mate. In the other, the owl is quiet and sleeps peacefully. The two owls are “you,” but on different paths, in different trees in the forest. Some owls think they can visit other versions of you (they call it interdimensional travel), but the truth is that each owl is stuck on its own branch, in its own tree. The idea seems fascinating, but it has some pitfalls for our thinking. Now let’s talk about myths and truths of the Multiverse: It’s true that there may be infinite versions of you, but it’s a myth that you can simply jump from one universe to another to fix a mistake. The owl that ate the rotten fruit can’t jump to the universe where it chose the good fruit. That owl will have to deal with the stomach ache. Another problem is thinking that your other versions are very different. Most are almost identical! An owl that blinked a second earlier, another that turned its head a millimeter to the side. Major differences, like an owl that became king of the forest, are much rarer. Owl thinks he’s famous in another universe, but he’s probably just sleeping, just like you. Oh, and an important detail: it’s a myth that if something bad happens to you, it doesn’t matter. Because other versions are fine. For the owl that fell from the nest, her story ended there. Her consciousness doesn’t jump to another owl. Each owl feels its own pain and its own joy. What if the owl regrets a choice? That’s her problem. She can’t go back and choose the other branch. She can only learn and make better choices in the future, in the tree she’s in. There’s no guarantee that her other versions are having more fun. Who is the idea of the Multiverse good for? Perhaps for the very curious owl, who likes to think about possibilities, who understands that each small decision creates a new world, who isn’t frightened by the size of reality, who doesn’t mind being just one among infinite owls, who has a plan for her own life, regardless of what the others are doing. Do such owls exist? Very rare in the forest. Do you understand the Multiverse now? A concept with many possibilities—for very attentive owls. The Multiverse isn’t a second chance. It’s proof that every choice matters. Share and subscribe to the channel to see more videos and learn all about the mysteries of the universe”
