The new Wonder Woman movie has just been released, and did you know that she is Israeli? Gal Gadot is the first non-American actress to play the role. And in addition she served in the Israeli Army here, and she doesn’t use a stuntwoman. So if you are ready, let’s get started! Gal Gadot was born on April 30, 1985, and she has a rather unusual name: Gal in Hebrew means wave, and Gadot: the riverbank. So Gal Gadot, her name means the wave on the bank of the river. Her father’s family has lived here in Israel for six generations, but her maternal family came from Europe, her grandparents are even Holoc@ust survivors, and her grandfather even went through Auschwitz. And she was born here in Israel, and grew up in a city called Rosh Haayin, a very beautiful city, very close to Tel-Aviv, Gal Gadot was always a very active child, she played many sports, especially basketball, and she dreamed of being a dance choreographer when she grew up. And at the age of eighteen, she will participate in Miss Israel, and she will be the winner, and she will be sent to represent Israel in Miss Universe, a pageant that she won’t win, why? Many people say that it was self sabotage, that she really didn’t want to win, and that’s why she wore the wrong clothes in the pageant, but that’s a story for another day. And after she participated in the beauty pageants, she like all Israelis will join the Army, and she will serve for two years and she will be a combat instructor. And while she was in the Army, she participated in a photo shoot of Israeli female soldiers, and her picture, this picture that you’re seeing now, ended up on the cover of The New York Post, and there for the first time, American eyes get to know the future Wonder Woman, and because of this picture she’s going to be invited to audition to be the next Bond Girl, in the 007 Quantum of Solace movie but she lost the role to Olga Kurylenko. But instead of making her give up, it gave her even more strength to fight! And soon after it, she will get her first Hollywood role, in the movie Fast and Furious. And here she was able to show everything she learned in the Army on the screen, and she did all the scenes in the movie guys, without a stuntman! This really is not for everyone, and from then on her personal career started to take off, and she participated in many films and TV series in Hollywood, and in Israel. And after a while, she starts to get tired of the movie world and decides to change her profession, and then her agent calls her, and asks her to audition one last time, and she goes to audition or a secret movie, she was being auditioned for, and she didn’t even know what role, or what movie, or what series it would be. And after two days, she will get the call from director Zack Snyder; saying that she had been chosen to become the new Wonder Woman! And for this role, besides the military training she already had, she learned Kung Fu, sword fighting, Jiu-Jitsu and even Capoeira. She debuted as Wonder Woman in 2016, in the movie Batman v Superman, and in her own Wonder Woman movie in 2017, and you won’t believe that she filmed parts of that movie while she was pregnant! She really is a Wonder Woman! Gal is married and has two beautiful and super cute daughters. And for all this, Gal Gadot is one of the most beloved and most admired actresses in Hollywood and of course, a pride to Israel!
