LIVRO DE MELQUISEDEQUE ENCONTRADO DEPOIS DE 2 MIL ANOS! Israel com a Aline
0Shalom and welcome back to ‘Israel with Aline!’ Today we are going to talk about Melchizedek, the King of Salem, and the Dead Sea manuscript that tells us about him and the battle of the Angels; a book that was lost and found again after two thousand years and that helps us to understand a little better the history of this mysterious biblical character. So if you’re ready, let’s get started! Last Wednesday we talked about the Dead Sea Scrolls, which are a collection of more than 900 scrolls from two thousand years ago, found in the Judean desert. These scrolls belonged to a Jewish community living in the region called the Essenes, and among the scrolls was found the oldest Hebrew Bible ever found, and also Apocryphal books, books that are not in the Bible. And today we are going to focus on one of these Apocryphal books, the book of Melchizedek, which had been lost for almost two thousand years and was only rediscovered in 1956. If you haven’t watched the video about the Dead Sea Scrolls, I’ll leave the link up here for you to watch later as well. Melchizedek is an enigmatic character and there is much we don’t know about him, when and where he was born, his genealogy about his death, and also about his real role in the coming of the Messiah. And so this scroll will help us to better understand who he was, but before that let’s look at what yes we do know, and what the Bible tells us about him. Melchizedek, or as we call him Hebrew Malki-Tzedek, are two words in Hebrew; “Melech” is King, and “Tzedek” is Justice, and so his name means “The King of Justice” or “My King is Justice”. The first source that tells us about him is the book of Genesis, chapter 14 when Abram is returning from war against the four kings of Mesopotamia, since they had kidnapped Lot, his nephew. And Abraham returns victorious and he returns with his nephew and also with spoils of war and he meets Bera, who is the King of Sodom, where? In the King’s Valley, which is next to Jerusalem. This valley is also known as the Valley of Josaphat, or as the Kidron Valley. So Malki-Tzedek goes out to meet Abraham: “Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand. Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.” Genesis 14: 18-20 This verse tells us a lot! Malki-Tzedek was the King of Salem, which was the former name of the city of Jerusalem, so he was King of Jerusalem, and he was King and priest, he was a priest of El Elyon, which is one of the names of God, the God of Israel in the Bible. And look how incredible, this King Caananite worshiped the same God as Abraham, an exception, since in the region people worshipped other gods, pagan gods, for example Baal. And we see that it is the same God since Abraham recognizes the priesthood of Melchizedek, since he gives him a tithe, or in Hebrew “Maasser”, that is, he gives Melchizedek ten percent of the spoils he was bringing back from the war to Melchizedek. Later on all the priests of the people of Israel are going to be Levites descended from Aaron, so Melchizedek is a great exception! He, being a Gentile and a Caananite, is recognized by God and Abraham as a legitimate priest. We also see the importance of Melchizedek in Psalm 110, and also in the book of Hebrews: The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” Psalms 110:4 Hebrews 7:15-17: “And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” Hebrews 7: 15-17 And through that verse we see the connection of Jesus and Melchizedek; Jesus who is also going to be King and priest. And it’s interesting that Melchizedek is chosen, because it shows us Jesus’ connection to Abraham and the people of Israel, but also to the Gentiles. And now let’s talk about the Melchizedek scroll which is 2,100 years old and was found in Qumran, in cave number 11, and it tells us parts of the Melchizedek story that are not in the Bible. So let’s read together the scroll that speaks of an Apocalyptic battle: “In this year ofJubilee each of you shall return to his property; and likewise, and this is the manner of release: every creditor shall release that which he has lent to his neighbour. He shall not exact it of his neighbour and his brother, for God’s release has been proclaimed.” This first part speaks of when the battle will be, which will take place in the tenth Jubilee. The year of Jubilee happens according to the Bible once every 50 years and in this year prisoners should be released, debts forgiven and the earth should rest. And it is a year of God’s mercy to the world. I will leave the complete text here in the description of the video and also in the first comment for those who want to read it calmly, and now let’s see the second part that talks about the battle itself: Its interpretation to the end of days concerning the captives of whom and whose masters have been hidden, and in secret from the inheritance of Melchizedek, because they are Melchizedek’s inheritance, which will return to them. And will proclaim to them liberty, forgiving them of all their iniquities. And this thing will occur in the first week of the Jubilee that follows the nine Jubilees. And the Day of Atonement is the end of the tenth Jubilee, when all the Sons of Light and the men of the lot of Melchizedek will be atoned for. And a statute concerns them to provide them with their rewards. For this is the moment of the Year of Grace for Melchizedek. And he will, by his strength, judge the holy ones of God, executing judgement as it is written concerning him in the Songs of David, who said, ELOHIM has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgement. And it was concerning him that he said, return to the height above them; EL (god) will judge the peoples. As for that which he said, How long will you judge unjustly and showpartiality to the wicked? Its interpretation concerns Belial and the spirits of his lot, who rebelled by turning away from the precepts of God. And Melchizedek will avenge the vengeance of the judgements of God, and he will drag them from the hand of Belial and from the hand of all the spirits of his lot. This is the day of Peace/Salvation concerning which God spoke [through Isaiah the prophet, who said How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who proclaims peace, who brings good news, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion: Your ELOHIM reigns. and the messenger is the Anointed one of the spirit, concerning whom Daniel said, Until an anointed one, a prince […] And he who brings good news, who proclaims salvation: In truth[…] will turn away from Belial… by the judgements of God […] who says to Zion; your ELOHIM reigns. Zion is …, those who uphold the Covenant, who turn from walking in the way of the people. And your ELOHIM is Melchizedek, who will save them from the hand of Belial. As for that which He said, Then you shall send abroad the trumpet in all the land. We have just heard the report of a war in heaven, the heavenly battle that is also described in Revelation 12, but in this text it is written that the leader of the angels in this battle will be Melchizedek and not the Archangel Michael as it is told in the book of Revelation, and this battle will be against Belial, who is a demon leader of a legion of fallen angels. And the whole text is written in the future, as events that will still happen; so this text shows us the very important role that Melchizedek has in the heavenly battle, and consequently in the final battle. Although he appears very little in the Old and New Testaments, we see that he has a very great importance for future events. I hope you enjoyed knowing a little more about Melchizedek and the Melchizedek scroll among the Dead Sea scrolls. There are many other interesting books that were found in the desert, so please leave in the comments which other books you want to hear about, but for now I say goodbye to you, my best regards and see you here every Wednesday and Sunday!
