grucer Mitenã welcome to another video on the channel and today you will follow me on a day of work I am here at the bus stop in front of my house I am going to get on the bus now so come with me and I will show you everything I do so I take a bus from home to Tum station this takes about 7 minutes more or less and from Tum I take a train to Interlaken right as I have already said in the other videos I live in Tum and work in Interlaken eh we have already looked for a house in Interlaken to make our lives easier more than anything and it is very difficult to find a house there so we make this journey which takes about an hour every day both to go and to come back in fact we really like living here in Tum it is a city that is a little bigger it has more structure than Interlaken so there are more things to do there is less tourism which means that the organization of the city is maintained much better although Interlaken is like a polished jewel every day they are always cleaning and planting new seedlings eh changing the flowers is incredible the organization of this city that receives thousands of tourists per year well and while I wait for the train just telling you a little about my routine today currently I’m waking up between 7:30 or 8 in the morning I’m feeling much more rested because I changed from the morning shift to the night shift for those who didn’t see the previous video of my work routine I’ll leave it here in the description I started working here in Switzerland in the hotel where I work at breakfast so I served coffee I did the organization and the cleaning and now I’m working at night so I arrive at work in the afternoon from the transition from morning to afternoon I do the lunch service and also the afternoon coffee and dinner so it changed a lot in the beginning it was a little difficult because there are a lot of things to remember because the service there is in an elegant way right and the experience I have in hospitality has always been very informal because most of it I worked in a pub so there was no formality at all it was a little difficult in the beginning I’ve been doing this afternoon and night shift for more than two weeks but now I’m feeling more confident I’m doing it I have a lot to learn on my own, especially about wine, because it’s a service where we’re always offering wine. I’m studying, right? To learn more and more, to be more independent and, of course, to have more opportunities here in Switzerland in the future. So if you’re interested in knowing what it’s like to work as a breakfast server at a hotel here in Switzerland, go watch this video. When you’re done, stay here because I’m going to show you what it’s like to work here in Switzerland, at lunch and dinner, in an elegant service. So follow me. I have 35 minutes on the train, both to go and to come back. I take advantage of this time to read some emails or read a book or respond to comments on YouTube or Instagram. So I try to take advantage of this time in some productive way. Most of the time, at night, I prefer to rest after a tiring day of work. But when I’m going, I always try to take advantage of it to do something. I just got here in Interlaquen and now I walk a little bit more to where I work. The city is very crowded here in Interlaquen. Tourism is very strong in the summer, so much so that in the winter we spend hours and hours without do practically nothing because until May there are not many people in the city May is when the tourists really start to arrive July and August is crazy so I’m going to show you a little bit here of the city and it’s crazy how they take care of this flowerbed they are always replanting last week they replanted all of this if you look at the previous video of the market that I made I’m going to leave it here below there were also tulips it’s totally different now look how beautiful I just got here in the locker room you already know this part in the previous video right I’m going to show you again this is the locker this one here where is my key it’s here this one here is my closet there are the clothes there that are the ones I need to put in the wash and these pants I’m going to wear now I ‘m going to change quickly and I’ll show you the uniform ok so I’ve already changed this is the uniform Here I have this vest, tie, shirt, now since it’s summer we’re wearing short sleeves, dress pants, and black shoes. I hid my microphone under my vest. I hope it works. I can record myself waiting on some tables. I want you to hear what I’m saying. Let’s see if it works. I hope the audio is being captured well. So, let’s go to another day of work. Since I still have 10 minutes. I’ll come and put away the dirty clothes I wore yesterday. I’ll come and see if there are any clean clothes for me. Usually, I’ll either bring something to eat, because I eat dinner here at work, but I have to bring lunch or I’ll eat something else before I start. So today I ate a croissant and I’m eating this cake now. I hope I don’t go hungry until 5 p.m., which is when I usually eat dinner. When I get there, there are already some tables for lunch. So, I’ll go straight to serving. But that wasn’t the case today. So, we started preparing this room for dinner. What I have to do as soon as I arrive is also to check the reservations and prepare the tables. I check if we have glasses and cups and cutlery for both the afternoon and evening service and also to put the drinks back in the fridge. Basically, I have everything ready. So this is the restaurant here. I work at lunch and dinner and this is how we set the table. I think I showed it in the other video too. So these are the appetizers and main courses. This one here is a plate for bread and a knife. And here we have a glass of red wine, white wine and water. So I’m recording here in secret. Take advantage of the fact that there’s no one in the restaurant. In fact, there’s a table outside, but they already have food. They already have drinks. So basically, when I arrive, I check if there’s the cutlery here. For example, if we have glasses and if we have everything we need to start the service, for both lunch and dinner. If necessary, I bring more glasses. I bring more glasses. And also, usually, when we have groups for dinner at night, we prepare it in the afternoon. For example, today we have a group of 29 people, so everything is already set up. Then in the afternoon, since it was quiet and we had some free time, we took advantage of it to fold the napkins for work because, especially in the summer, we need a lot of them. The ideal is to always be doing them so as not to run out. And here I was going to restock the refrigerator in practice, so I took the empty boxes and put them in this room where we discard the bottles. And then I went to the cellar. It’s cool that they put the main wine regions of the world and the main grapes on the wall, so I always go there and take a look to save a few more notes. And then we have the wines separated by sparkling wine, white wine, red wine. And that was the result I was taking today. We have to write down how much we are taking out to keep track of it, right? And then I went to get some glasses for an event that’s going to take place next week, a very big event. So we’re having to resort to the glass shop that’s stored. In this case, I got some champagne glasses, some beer glasses, and then I brought them upstairs to clean them. And we have to polish them one by one, of course, to get them really clean. And that’s what I did. We’ve already saved for the event here. We were starting to organize the restaurant for service, so we make what we call a drinks station. We usually put one with wine, one with mineral water and one with water so that we have as little work as possible when it’s time to service. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to record during the service because it was very rushed, so this is the end. We organize, take off the dirty tablecloths, put on new ones and prepare for breakfast the next day. At the end of the night, one or two people always go back to start polishing everything. We have help from the person who washes the dishes, to do the first wash, but we pass it through another machine again to finish cleaning so that it’s really clean and to make it easier when it’s time to polish everything. So then I was polishing the cutlery, my colleague was polishing the glasses and cups. Now, in the summer, it gets a lot more complicated because the only thing you want when you’re in this situation is to go take a nice shower, and that’s not every day, but That day we were lucky and we got this risotto, probably a mistake at one of the tables. Well, guys, I couldn’t record the conclusion yesterday because I was very tired and exhausted, so I took the opportunity to rest on the train. I decided to leave home today because the day is wonderful. As always, you know that I show my real life, my real experience. I don’t intend to and I never will pretend that we have the perfect life in Switzerland. Quite the opposite. I will always show the negative points too, because just like anywhere in the world, there are some negative points, but in truth, the negative point depends a lot on our point of view. Some difficult situations in our life will require more from us, especially from our emotions. At work, it’s not easy because it’s demanding a lot from my mind and from my effort to learn, to always try to understand German, especially even though most of it is in English, but also to learn new things, and physically, it’s also demanding a lot. But on the other hand, I’m very grateful to God for allowing me to live these experiences. Working in hospitality wasn’t necessarily a dream, but living in Switzerland, visiting Switzerland was actually a dream. mine since childhood and today I can live so even though there are difficult days and very tiring moments the main feeling I have today is gratitude when I have these difficult moments I think they are opportunities for growth I am taking the experiences like this and it is making my life easier as I said in another video, right? There is the negative side of being far from family, far from friends, having to make an effort to create new connections here but apart from that part I am really enjoying living here in Switzerland this job has been a great experience it was a great gateway I am able to learn new skills learning how to deal with new people making new connections talking to different people of different nationalities and that is something I really like and that is being super positive actually and to be honest even though it is not the perfect job it is not the dream job nor does it have many benefits this job is providing me with experiences so that I can take it further so that I can grow so I am trying to extract as much as I can from people even from people who have much more experience that I am always asking questions I am a very curious person I think that we must be like this everywhere, in fact, right? So a lot of people ask me if it’s worth coming to Switzerland, if you’ll be able to survive here, especially if you have children, if you have a family. It really depends on people. To come to Switzerland, you have to be willing to maybe work in something that’s not in your area, have that patience, you know, to learn new things, have humility, have wisdom to extract what needs to be extracted and that with time you will grow if you commit yourself, if you study the local language, this certainly happens to everyone and generally the people who complain a lot, who speak badly of Switzerland or speak badly of the lifestyle here, speak badly of the Swiss, are people who either don’t try to learn the language or aren’t open to new experiences and new opportunities because I see so many opportunities in this country that I don’t see how I can’t grow, you know, so that’s it. I believe that each phase of our life has its value and that we have to be grateful but also looking to improve and look for new opportunities, looking to learn, having that humility, right, to learn.
